![]() In the end the ice cream was average and expensive for what you get and we didn't even get a chance to go into the candy store. While we were told that they had been busy that day, there weren't that many people there during our visit. I don't know how long the soda shoppe was going to remain open that night, but the employees were walking around like they were at the end of a 12 hour shift. As we started to eat our ice cream, they came over the PA and said that the candy store was closing in 15 minutes. Our ice cream finally showed up at 4:45 and my order was not what I requested, but I just accepted it anyway. I was worried about trying something else since we had already waited a half an hour so I told them to just use vanilla. Sweetie Candy has been providing sweets, treats, and chocolates from our giant wholesale candy store. About a half an hour after placing our order our waiter came over to tell us that they were out of chocolate ice cream and would I want my order made with vanilla or would I want something else. So we thought we would try out the Soda Shoppe first. Allow time to go through the gigantic candy store. Both courses are challenging, although one is identified as easy. We arrived at 4:00 PM and we were told that the candy store was open until 8:00PM. We enjoy these two fun courses, with brilliant purple turf and candy-themed décor. We will not be back and I will definitely tell everyone I know about our experience. sweetie Candy Company boasts the largest candy warehouse in North America. They were not apologetic at all! I can't believe we wasted all of our time sitting there. The company deals in many candies and a lot of nostalgia for the now-mostly-gone candy shop. After about 45 minutes, my husband went to the counter to pay for the 2 self serve ice creams that we had eaten. We continued to watch other tables get ice cream with waffle cones. We told him that we would take sugar cones instead. We had already been waiting for about 25 minutes. We questioned that and he then said, "We are too busy to make them!" We were very upset about his response. After that, he came over and told us that they were out of waffle cones. Finally, my husband tracked him down for our water. The other guest were promptly greeted by other servers with water. ![]() Our server was seating several other families as we were waiting for our stuff. We then waited patiently for our ice cream and water. We told him that we were ready to order and we would all like some water. We were sat really quick, but it took our server about 10 minutes to come to our table. “You know, she did 24 different pictures and was honest and she just absolutely loved the place.My family and I drove over 50 minutes to buy candy and enjoy some ice cream. "She's got candy for life! Yeah, and thank you being honest on her post,” he said. While things have slowed back down a bit, Scheiman is grateful for the post the customer made that drove business to his store. "Customers were coming from North Carolina, from Kentucky, from Indiana, a lot from Michigan, a lot from Pennsylvania," he said. He said half the customers that weekend were from out of town. Scheiman said the first weekend after the post went viral there was a line outside the store for five hours. “We drove all the way from Columbus and this is our very first stop." She said they were so excited they skipped an important start to the day. ![]() Wilson-Bushone and her husband drove about two hours to the store. "Solely because we saw the Facebook post and I am a huge candy lover mainly chocolate,” she said. She said the Facebook post is what brought them in. “We had to limit people from coming in."ĭee Wilson-Bushone and her husband, Mark, are two people who spent their Saturday morning browsing the aisles of the candy store. "Over a weekend, we had over 7,000 people in the store which was crazy,” he said. The post went viral, now having more than 1,000 likes, 7,000 comments, and being shared more than 61,000 times. Scheiman's store was flocked with customers after another customer posted on Facebook sharing her experience at the biggest candy store in the country. “So we investigated and found out where the source was and, like, wow this is incredible. ![]() "All of the sudden, it's like 'what happened here?'” he said. He said January is usually a slow month for the store, so when customers began to fill the store to COVID-19 capacity, he knew something was up.
